The Best Coffee Near the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal
Walking or cycling the canal? Wedges Bakery in Hockley Heath is your perfect pit stop for coffee, cake, and a warm welcome.
The Stratford-upon-Avon Canal is one of the prettiest waterways in the West Midlands, winding through countryside and villages between Birmingham and Stratford. And if you are walking, cycling, or boating along it, you will need somewhere good to stop for coffee.
Wedges Bakery in Hockley Heath is just a couple of minutes from the canal towpath, making us the ideal refuelling stop on your journey.
Our Coffee
We take our coffee seriously. Properly extracted espresso forms the base of all our drinks, and our baristas know how to make a flat white that will put a spring in your step for the next few miles.
- Flat white — velvety, strong, and perfectly balanced
- Latte — smooth and milky, available with oat or soya milk
- Cappuccino — classic Italian style with a thick foam cap
- Americano — long black coffee, hot or iced
- Hot chocolate — rich and warming on cold canal-side days
- Tea — because sometimes only a proper brew will do
More Than Just Coffee
Of course, we are a bakery first. So alongside your coffee, you can grab a freshly baked sausage roll, a slice of cake, a sandwich, or one of our legendary scotch eggs. Everything is made fresh at our Hockley Heath bakery every morning.
How to Find Us from the Canal
We are closest to Bridge 25 on the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal. From the towpath, walk up to School Road and you will see our bakery on the left. The walk takes about two minutes. Dogs are welcome in our outdoor seating area, and we keep fresh water bowls out for four-legged visitors.
"Whether you are mid-walk, mid-ride, or mid-boat trip, there is always time for a proper coffee and a sausage roll at Wedges."
So next time you are on the Stratford Canal near Hockley Heath, make a detour to Wedges. Your taste buds, and your tired legs, will thank you.
